LIVING IN RIVER OAKS
River Oaks like the adjacent Uptown Core neighbourhood has a new urbanism feel. Many of the houses have a front porch or balcony and the streets are made for pedestrians and cyclist with sidewalks and bicycle lanes. This is very much a family oriented neighbourhood with its own community centre, neighbourhood schools and shopping plazas and many parks with interconnecting trails and footpaths.
River Oaks abuts important Oakville landmarks: Sixteen Mile Creek forms the west border, Glen Abbey Golf Course is situated on the south border, Dundas Street West is the north border and Trafalgar Road is the east border. Dundas and Trafalgar are main arterial roads that provide River Oaks residents with quick and convenient access to the 400 series and QEW highways.
HOMES IN RIVER OAKS
River Oaks has a bit of a new urbanism feel to it. The houses are fairly close together and front garages are not as prominent as some other neighbourhoods, rather they are kept to the rear wherever possible. The houses are two and three storey in size. Many have aspects of Neo Federal design, with architectural detail including porticos, Palladian windows and detailed brick pattern accents.
